In 1905, a reconstruction of the adit entrance was erected, referring to the chronicle records of gold mining. The 16th-century chronicler F. Holstein wrote that he had found traces of heaps south of the city and within 2 to 4 miles farther – the mines themselves. Another historian, J. Bergemann, also came across the mines in the early 19th century and attempted to dig for the precious ore.
