Marta Małoszyc

Bolesławiec artistic community – Marta Małoszyc

The viewer waits for visual and emotional aesthetic values. The artist can only anticipate his or her reaction to a certain extent if he or she acts with a specific intention, be it to shock, intrigue or soothe and reassure. Having the gift of creation, the artist should use it skilfully.
Marta Małoszyc
"The most important thing is to be moved...", interview with the artist, Katarzyna Żak, "Bolesławiec Yearbook 2013"

This post from the series “Boleslawiec artistic community” was prepared within the framework of the project “Boleslawiec – 30 years of local government” implemented by the Museum of Ceramics and the Boleslawiec Cultural Center – International Ceramics Center

Marta Małoszyc was born in Krzepice near Częstochowa. Between 1993 and 1998 she attended the Jacek Malczewski State Secondary School of Fine Arts in Częstochowa, where she learned the basics of ceramics, painting, drawing and composition. From the very beginning, she wanted her works to be spatial, not limited to the plane of paper or canvas, which is why ceramics became her favourite material. In 2003, she graduated from the Faculty of Ceramics and Glass at the Eugeniusz Geppert Academy of Fine Arts in Wrocław, where she studied in the Unique Ceramics Studio of Prof. Irena Lipska-Zworska and Prof. Lidia Kupczyńska-Jankowiak.

In 2004, she started working at Zakłady Ceramiczne “Bolesławiec” as a mould and decoration designer. From 2008 to 2017, she held the position of promotion specialist at this company. In 2018, she returned to design. At that time, she created a series of vessels called ” Boats”, alluding in shape to the characteristic slender boats used in the Far East. When designing the vessels, the artist pays attention to the coexistence of utilitarian, visual and ergonomic functions, so that the vessel fits perfectly in the hands and provides the user with a sense of comfort. At the same time, she takes care of the aesthetics and shape of the vessel, which should harmonise with the place or space.

In addition to her professional work, she is involved in unique ceramics, painting and drawing. In 2005- 2007, 2017 and 2020, she was among the participants of the International Sculpture and Ceramics Plein- Air in Bolesławiec.
