Bolesławiec artistic community – Magdalena Olga Konieczna

My paintings begin in nature, then I already play with colour, subjecting shapes to delicate syntheses. I pass light through the lead drawing, creating "divisions". I experience matter, saturate a stained-glass window with a glow seeping from somewhere in the depths of the painting or ignite the composition with a colourful blaze. I put this painterly adventure into the framework imposed by medieval craftsmanship.
Magdalena Konieczna

This post from the series “Boleslawiec artistic community” was prepared within the framework of the project “Boleslawiec – 30 years of local government” implemented by the Museum of Ceramics and the Boleslawiec Cultural Center – International Ceramics Center

Magdalena Konieczna was born, lives and works in Bolesławiec. She is a graduate of the Higher School of Pedagogy in Częstochowa, where she obtained a diploma in graphic design under the direction of Professor Ewa Zawadzka in 1999. In 2010, she supplemented her education with a specialisation in stained glass in the studio of Ryszard Więckowski at the Academy of Fine Arts in Wrocław. Her work with stained glass inspired her to search for new directions of artistic expression related to the fusing technique, which involves melting sheets or pieces of glass. Her creative interests also include easel painting, batiks, design and photography. An important place in her oeuvre is occupied by exlibris. The artist likes to experiment with different materials, combining various artistic techniques.

Since 2000, Magdalena Konieczna has also been heavily involved in the artistic education of children and young people. At the St. Wyspiański Youth Cultural Centre in Bolesławiec she runs studios for printmaking and multidirectional art, while at the International Ceramics Centre in Bolesławiec she runs a glass and stained glass workshop. Her pupils regularly win prizes and distinctions in nationwide competitions.

We invite you to watch a film snapshot of Magdalena Konieczna’s stained glass exhibition ” Divisions of Light”, which took place in 2014 at the Copper Museum in Legnica.
